Editorial policy
How SIKLIST chooses topics, researches claims, uses AI assistance, creates images, handles commercial relationships, and keeps cycling guidance accurate.

Audience and purpose
Every SIKLIST page should help a new or improving road cyclist make one decision, perform one task, or understand one concept. We prioritize practical confidence over enthusiast trivia, purchase pressure, and search-engine filler.
How topics are chosen
Topics come from the beginner learning journey, search demand, recurring community questions, reader feedback, and gaps in the existing guide library. Community discussions—including Reddit—help us understand real wording and confusion. They are audience research, not automatic evidence.
We do not create separate pages for every slight variation of a search query. Closely overlapping topics are combined or connected so each page has a distinct job.
Research and sources
- Manufacturers are preferred for product operation, compatibility, maintenance instructions, and specifications.
- Governments and official authorities are preferred for laws, road rules, and public-safety requirements.
- Original research and recognized health bodies are preferred for medical, exercise, nutrition, and performance claims.
- Experienced community discussion may reveal useful scenarios or disagreements, but important claims are verified elsewhere.
Sources are linked close to the claims they support. A sources section is added when several references materially shape a page. We distinguish measured facts, common practice, editorial judgment, and personal preference.
Safety and uncertainty
We do not diagnose injuries, remotely approve a damaged bicycle, promise health outcomes, or present local law as universal. Urgent boundaries appear in a visible safety note. Ordinary cautions sit beside the relevant step.
When a formula, threshold, torque, pressure, fit change, or service interval matters, we use a cited model or manufacturer instruction, explain the assumptions, or teach the relationship qualitatively. We do not invent precision.
AI assistance and generated images
AI tools may help with research organization, outlines, drafting, editing, code, accessibility text, and original image generation. They do not receive a byline, and their output is not considered a source.
Every published article includes at least one useful image; three or more are preferred when they genuinely teach, orient, compare, or demonstrate. Generated images are checked for misleading anatomy, equipment errors, unwanted trademarks, illegible text, and visual artifacts. Essential facts remain available in page text even when an image or interaction fails to load.
Authorship and expertise
“SIKLIST Editors” identifies work produced under this shared standard. It does not imply that a named clinician, mechanic, fitter, coach, or professional racer reviewed the page. Specialist review is credited only when it actually occurred.
We never invent first-hand tests, credentials, quotes, or personal stories. When experience or testing matters, the article explains who did it, what was tested, and the meaningful limitations.
Commercial independence
Coverage is not sold. Material relationships—including sponsorship, affiliate compensation, free products, paid travel, or advertiser involvement—must be disclosed clearly on the affected page. Commercial partners do not receive undisclosed editorial approval.
Updates and corrections
Material updates receive an updated date. We prioritize pages affected by safety guidance, laws, product changes, broken links, new evidence, or reader confusion. Significant errors are corrected promptly and transparently under our corrections policy.
